Post-Afrofest: Performance audio online; Where next year?
1. Performances archived online at CIUT:
Alas, work & a weird flu bug meant this was the first Afrofest in years I had to miss.
I was able to catch a lot of it on CIUT which has broadcast most of the 23 Afrofest's. This year, they began each day at 3pm, and those performances will be available from the CIUT website beginning sometime later this week.
2. Where will Afrofest be next year?
As is well known, the City of Toronto wants Afrofest to move from Queen's Park effective in 2012, claiming it has far outgrown the capacity of the Park, which is scheduled for a renovation next year.
Music Africa & many Afrofest fans would like it to stay in the tradtional, central and leafy QP site. Through the festival, people were strongly encouraged to join Music Africa as a way of showing support. (Only $20 !).
